The KickStand™ is a heavy-duty microphone boom-arm isolator designed to eliminate unwanted resonance from the stage, drum riser, or studio floor before it reaches the microphone. By combining a massive stabilizing base with an integrated isolation pad, the KickStand™ delivers a cleaner, more controlled recording and live sound environment.
On live stages and in studios, kick drums and bass instruments often excite the wood flooring or stage structure, causing low frequencies to couple with the surface. This interaction can produce unwanted peaks, nulls, and resonances that color the sound captured by nearby microphones.
Another common issue is mechanical vibration—from kick drum pedals, stage movement, or powerful PA systems. These vibrations can travel through drum risers and stands, causing rattling and unwanted noise that microphones easily pick up. The KickStand™ solves this problem by decoupling the microphone stand from the surface while introducing substantial mass to keep the stand stable and the microphone firmly positioned.
At the foundation of the design is a thick, high-density open-cell acoustic foam isolation pad that covers the entire base plate, effectively preventing vibration transfer. Above it sits an innovative laser-cut steel platform, engineered with a wedge-shaped profile that helps reduce standing waves while providing the ideal height and support for precise boom-arm positioning.
The result is superior isolation and enhanced stability, allowing microphones to capture clearer sound with improved transient response and greater low-frequency definition.
Originally developed for kick drum recording, the KickStand™ is equally effective when used with electric guitar, bass cabinets, and other low-frequency instruments, or in any situation where floor resonance and mechanical vibration can compromise microphone performance.
